Is romance in the air at your house?

We never grow too old for romance.

Want proof? Just look at the romance genre. Sales continue to climb. I’m not talking just about erotica (smut novels per my daughter.)

Want to write a bestselling novel?

Add romance to the formula.

Whether you self-publish or traditional,  write mysteries, women’s fiction, dystopian, YA, LGBT fiction, horror, or thriller, add a little romance and you’ve got a bestseller on your hands.

Why?

Because everyone loves a good love story.

Still not convinced? Check out the top Amazon 100 ebooks or the NYT Best Seller list and see for yourself. Read some of the book blurbs, I bet you’ll see lots of references to love. Even one of the hottest new YA futuristic book, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline mentions a love connection.

So tell me—

Could your current work in progress use a little romance?

Have you given much thought to how hot the romance genre is?

That’s it for today. Short and sweet because I’ve got a big romantic evening to plan.

So go curl up with a good romantic movie or book and get your groove on.

Do you want to curl up with a good book this weekend?

Then today is your lucky day!

Because I’ve got not one, not two but three for you. Each book different and unique.

Long flights are perfect for reading and I found these good talented authors to keep me company as I traveled.

Up first…

The Sanctification of Peter Kane  by Troy Stoops

The Sanctification of Peter Kane by [Stoops, Troy]

At first, the mixed reviews gave me pause. I wasn’t sure what to expect, offered through Kindle Unlimited so I thought, why not. And boy-howdy I’m glad I took a chance on Mr. Stoops.

I enjoyed this book so much, I returned the KU version and bought a copy to keep. It’s that good. Ever heard the old saying, “Truth is stranger than fiction?” That’s what popped into my mind as I read this book.

I also wondered where the author bought his crystal ball, the book was published in 2013. Twilight time. Be sure to open your mind and check your biases before you begin reading. To read my 5-star review on Amazon review…

Next is…

The Millionaire’s Wife by Shalini Boland

The Millionaire's Wife by [Boland, Shalini]This psychological thriller kept me on the edge until the last chapter. That makes for a great read. If you enjoyed Gone Girl, you will like The Millionaire’s Wife. Just what will someone do for money?

Kill, plan, and terrorize? All of the above is in this book. Ms. Boland earned five stars for the roller coaster ride of suspense. To read my 5-star review on Amazon review…

Last but not least…

I Am Watching You by [Driscoll, Teresa]Where do I start? At the end. Why? Because there are few books that have brought me to tears. This is one. I read the last few pages through blurry eyes. Not because my eyes were tired or my Kindle on the fritz. No, the words danced because of the compassion rolling inside of me.

Ms. Driscoll tells a story of murder, loss, and deceit from the perspective of all too human characters. This takes talent. She makes the reader care about the people in her story. I can only hope to achieve this great feat one day.

I didn’t figure out guilty until the author revealed their identity. Now that is great story telling and very deserving of five stars. To read my 5-star review on Amazon review…

This Weeks 5 Star Book Recommendation

Searching for a good book to read this weekend?

5gold-star3If you’re ready to curl up with a good book here is another five-star recommendation from me.

Whether it’s a thriller, mystery, love story, historical romance, or YA dystopian series they all must have one thing in common, the theme must grip me. The story must grab me, hold me, enthrall me or cause me to suspend belief for a few hours. The books I give a five-star recommendation do that and more.

Before I Go To Sleep: A Novel [Kindle Edition] by S. J. Watson

This story is disorienting, unique, unusual unnerving and gripping. Be prepared, this is a long book and once you get into it, like me, you may read until the wee hours of the morning.

The story is about a woman who wakes every morning with no memory. She doesn’t recognize the person in the mirror or the man next to her in bed. Working with a doctor, she begins a journal, keeping track of her days, trying to unravel her past and the mystery of who she is. What she discovers is not what anyone expects.

Warning: Be prepared this is one that will keep you awake late into the night as the suspense builds.

Chilling Psychological Thriller = 5 Stars

The Memory Box [Kindle Edition] by Eva Lesko Natiello

This chilling thriller is not an easy read. Be ready to hold on tight to your sanity. Ms. Natiello stunned me with this fast paced, psychological thriller that is current, relevant, and horrifying. This is a different, and strange take on dysfunction and mans inhumanity to man.
