Deeply Disturbing 5 Star Read

It’s Friday Book Review Time.

For once I was at a loss for words when I sat down to write this review. Yeah, right me a loss for words.

This story is dark, tragic, strange, mysterious and beautiful.

I gave, The Grave Tender, 5 Stars for the beautiful and haunting words that pulled me into a deeply disturbing story.5gold-star3

A story about a family’s tragic past that refused to stay buried and how someone had to pay for their sins.

This is a mystery, with a southern Gothic feel where no one is what they seem. And where everyone is broken in some why or other.

Spoiler: This is not a feel good book but is a very good read.

Today I added two FREE reads to my Kindle

Don’t you just love a bargain? Especially when it’s free.

Did I say two? Well make that 3 Free e-books! (read below…)

Can’t ask for better than FREE.

I love Janet Evanovich so her endorsement was enough for me to give Fifteen Minutes to Live a read through Kindle Unlimited for FREE. Of course, $. 99 is super cheap.

Phoef Sutton has a wonderful and unique voice. This is a romantic tale, full of suspense and human emotion. It’s also funny in its own special way.  Once I started it, I couldn’t stop,” Janet Evanovich, #1 New York Times bestselling author.

The second book that caught my eye was –

Sara’s Game. Why? Because I love a good thriller. What is more frightening than missing children?

The last day before summer break, her three children have gone missing from their schools, all at the same time. And the note under her windshield wiper asks one foreboding question: Are you ready to play the game?

This Weeks 5 Star Book Recommendation

Searching for a good book to read this weekend?

5gold-star3If you’re ready to curl up with a good book here is another five-star recommendation from me.

Whether it’s a thriller, mystery, love story, historical romance, or YA dystopian series they all must have one thing in common, the theme must grip me. The story must grab me, hold me, enthrall me or cause me to suspend belief for a few hours. The books I give a five-star recommendation do that and more.

Before I Go To Sleep: A Novel [Kindle Edition] by S. J. Watson

This story is disorienting, unique, unusual unnerving and gripping. Be prepared, this is a long book and once you get into it, like me, you may read until the wee hours of the morning.

The story is about a woman who wakes every morning with no memory. She doesn’t recognize the person in the mirror or the man next to her in bed. Working with a doctor, she begins a journal, keeping track of her days, trying to unravel her past and the mystery of who she is. What she discovers is not what anyone expects.

Warning: Be prepared this is one that will keep you awake late into the night as the suspense builds.

One Lavender Ribbon – 5 Stars

One Lavender Ribbon [Kindle Edition] by Heather Burch

I along with over 4300 other readers, I loved this book.

This was a big surprise to me. I’m not much for walks down memory lane. However, this is a beautiful book.

I finished this book in one day. Of course I accomplished nothing else. This book brought back memories of another time, another conflict, and another young man far from home who wrote beautiful letters. The readers who just didn’t “get” One Lavender Ribbon are quite lucky, because, like the character Will, I doubt they understand war. I hope they never do.

This beautifully written book gets 5 stars from me.5gold-star3
