Do you know how to drop an Emoji in comments?

Love or hate them, Emoji are here to stay.

Laugh out loud emoji with Jean M Cogdell

Me, I love them and think they are lots of fun. But, I don’t always remember the right combination to get the correct Emoji.

Yay! Here is a cheat sheet for you and me to drop an Emoji in WordPress.

Writing with Emoji.

Smiley Face

I know there is a plugin for WordPress.org. But I use WordPress.com, so if anyone out there has an easier way let me know.

Do you use Emoji?

Do you think you might start adding them now?

Do you know what to expect?

When hiring an editor or proofreader?

The prices are all over the map, so to speak, but thanks to Dan Alatorre we now have a good idea what to expect. Dan broke the prices down so even I could understand what to expect. I mean, no one likes to get hit with sticker shock. Finding the right editor or proofreader for the right price is a delicate balancing act for each writer. Even a children’s picture book requires a professional touch.

Read Dan’s blog post and tell me what you think. I really want to know. Although my novel is not ready for prime time yet I hope by years end to be editor shopping myself.

Have you ever hired an editor? How was your experience?

Do the prices jive with Dan’s?

How did you find your editor?

Do you know what publishing costs to expect?

Want to know how to make over your blog?

Simple, change the font and change the look.

I wasn’t real happy with the look of my blog, so that’s what I’ve done, tried out different fonts. Like with my living room, which by the way drives my husband nuts I like to shift things around every now and again.

Think I’ve found some keepers, at least for now. Futura PT and FF Meta Serif. Let me know if you think the overall look is an improvement or not or you can’t tell or even if you don’t remember. LOL

My apologies if while I was shifting fonts around you were bombarded by flickers from my blog.

Hmm, does WordPress send out an update every time I change something on my page?

Yikes! I hope not, that could get annoying.

But, like y’all I want my blog to look the best it possibly can. How do you decide which fonts look best? Sometimes the default font that comes with the theme is perfect. Other times, meh…

If you’re looking to spice things up, consider changing your dusty old font.

Have you thought about tweaking your blog? About changing the fonts?

Do you change-up the look of your blog often, or never or somewhere in-between?

How to start tweeting like a pro right now

And boy o boy, I need to start tweeting more.

Up until now, I’ve been so lame. That’s right, a lame tweeter. But not for long.

Why? I want to be good on social media and don’t want to do anything half-assed. Even tweeting.

This morning I was excited to read an email from Suzanne Bowditch on how to do just that, tweet like a pro.(click to tweet)

Suzanne gave five good tips on what to do to engage with others on Twitter. Here is what mined from her great post.

  1. People love freebies- so promote free products even if it’s not yours.
  2. Ask a question- yes but also answer questions with questions.
  3. Want retweets, ask for them true- but don’t forget to retweet others.
  4. Use the right hashtag- but don’t go hashtag crazy.
  5. Learn from other successful tweeters.
  6. Mine – Keep tweeting, don’t give up.

Now head over to Suzanne’s blog and read her post. I’d love to hear what you think.
