From my house to yours, Happy Thanksgiving

Although, Thanksgiving is a US holiday, I hope my European friends will indulge me a bit for my holiday excitement.

This is a time to reflect, pause and enjoy good food, friends and family or that very special person in your life.

That’s what I will be doing today. Enjoying my special man, good food (pumpkin pie), good wine and relaxing in front of a roaring fire.

My favorite!

Oh, and one other thing!

I’ll be decorating for very special Christmas guests! I want my house to look like Santa’s workshop exploded.

That’s right! My oldest daughter and her family will be home from Paris, France. I can’t wait to have everyone together for the upcoming holidays. So I plan to go a little overboard.

I’ll post pictures next week!

Five grands, 2 daughters and 2 son-in-laws all together!

It’s been three years since we celebrated the holidays together and I’m over the top excited!

So to all my readers – Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Holidays no matter where you are! Eat, drink and make love!

What are your plans for the holidays?

May the lights of Paris forever shine bright!

This morning I’m filled with mixed emotions.

Joy, that my daughter and granddaughters were safe when the madness of cowards struck Paris, but sadness for those in Paris who weren’t.

Joy, to see lights all over the world shining in support of Paris, but sadness that for a brief moment in time the lights of Paris flickered. However, most proud that the lights never went out.

Je suis Paris!

This famous City of Lights holds a special place in my heart. Not just because my family lives there, but because there is no other place that is like Paris.

As my daughter reminded me last night, Paris did not break in WWII and these cowards will not break the city now.

To all my friends in France, stay safe – Paris is resilient and strong.

Want to Visit Paris?

Want to travel?

No Time?

Today we are able to travel in books and blogs. One great blog in which you can enjoy a virtual trip to Paris is –

at Teresa Lutz, A Francophile in France.

There are wonderful pictures and descriptions to make you dream of visiting Paris and might just inspire your writing.

Check out Teresa’s latest adventure.

Vaux le Vicomte by candlelight.

PS.

Teresa is my daughter and I can’t wait to visit later in the year.

I love comments, tell me what’s happening with you and if you’re not already, please follow me @jeancogdell on Twitter or jean.cogdell on Facebook!

This Mom is Charlie

After the dreadful events in France last week, the prompt for your 100 Words is:

Freedom

I swallow my fear and paste on a smile. Unafraid she marches among millions, her face aglow with joy and determination. My babe now woman, wife, mother and defender. Pride swells as I read the text and stare at her determined face. Arms linked with her family, at five feet even, she stands tall in the crowd. Thousands of miles from home, but this moment she feels snuggled against my heart. This woman who sprang my loins raises her voice, and I hear mine, demanding freedom for all. Je suis Charlie. We are all Charlie and we are unafraid.
