Read today, Why I Write

Today my essay went live at this exciting online journal. I’m thrilled the editors chose to publish my story and also because this is the first essay I’ve written in more years than I care to count.

Writing Why I Write, was an exercise of love. Through the encouragement of family I’ve set my words free.

Please go to Fiction Southwest and read Why I Write and let me know what you think.

Where does all the time go?

We’re entering the final days of 2014 —
how did you do on your New Year’s resolutions these past 11.75 months?
Is there any leftover item to be carried over to 2015?

Time and Memory Slips Away

Oh my! Sometimes I’ve trouble remembering what I promised to do last week much less eleven months ago. Pushing back the cobwebs I seem to remember wanting to:
  1. Lose weight, I gained weight,
  2. Submit more stories than the previous year, I submitted less,
  3. Read more, oh crap where did the year go…
  4. Blog more, oops
  5. Spend more time with friends and family, everybody is so damn busy – me included

Hey, I just remembered something!

I didn’t write any of these down so they don’t count.

Whew, what a relief!

Okay, starting over, this year I resolve to:

Never mind, don’t think I’ll write down my thoughts for 2015 either.

Happy Holidays y’all.

Alphabet Soup

This blog was one of the hardest, most challenging prompt I’ve seen in quiet some time. I just had to try and hope you will too. Fair warning it’s not as easy as labyless makes it look.
Here is my Alphabet Soup. Don’t judge too hard and have fun.

A badass, careless damned elf fabricated gadgets; helped, illusive junk kick loose magical nightmarish objects. Pieces quickly rose stealing through until visiting wistful Xanadu, yesterdays zenith.

Daily Prompt

Write down the letters of the ABC. For each one, choose a word that begins with that letter. Now, write a post about anything — using all the words you’ve selected.

Giant

Amongst Battle Clad Demons Emerged Four Giants.

Hurling Insults Jokingly, Keeping Like Monsters.

Not One Passed Quietly;

Rushing, Stomping Through, Ushering Victims With Xenarthral, Yammering Zealously.

I’m now alone

This is such a moving piece, I wanted to share it with my readers. Enjoy.

I have sailed through oceans
That humans walk in search of food
And I have seen of man unbelievable actions
That make even Him sorrow and brood.
Perhaps like court, earth needs recessions.

Those that know refuse to be mute,
Wise bald folks warn with tears and flutes.
Darkness gloats, Nature in meaning is brute;
Our sweet trees bear but bitter fruits;
Against whom, tell me, shall we file a suit?

I ran to a priest and knelt in tears.
Please pray, fast, redeem my peers.
He stood and frowned like he fathomed my fears
But only to request my coins and wears.
Is life just a market? This grinds my gears.

The predator in khaki and helmet you see
Travels across lands and across the sea
To defend a future his country allegedly foresee;
Make holes in them heads, Arabs and Pharisee;
Returns home to gloat, wallow in cruel…
