Just like the GPS app on your phone or in your car!
I don’t know about you but I’m lost now without my GPS. That app has saved me more times than I can count. As a directionally challenged person, I depend on it to go anywhere. And just like my car’s GPS, Scrivener’s Inspector helps me stay the course.
So what is “The Inspector?”
The Inspector Pane is a cool gadget in Scrivener sort of like a tip-sheet. With it, you can add the synopsis, bits of information, pictures, and notes that will keep your story moving in the right direction.
But in this video, I show you my favorite feature called “The Custom Meta-Data.” The custom meta-data section reminds you where you are, where you want the characters to end up, and what’s happening in each chapter or scene.
Open a chapter or page and with one glance at the Inspector, you can see the day, time, location and goals of your characters.

Jean, I’m loving your videos! I’m bookmarking them for reference as I plan to do some experimentation once again with Scrivener because of your simple instructions. I will definitely let you know how I find it when I go to place a draft chapter in later this week, hopefully. 🙂

Wow! What a nice compliment. No matter how amazing a program might be, it’s useless until I can figure out an easy way to make it work for me. Sometimes I have to break things down to very simple terms. LOL

I don’t use the meta data. I didn’t know you could do that. I have the inspector open and use it for chapter notes.

I use the notes section too. But love the Meta data for tracking timelines and goals.
